He picked up his first guitar in 1957 for a school play. Influenced by Elvis, Cliff and Lonnie Donegan, he picked up his second guitar in 1960 when he realised that girls liked groups. A period with various small bands led to success with THE MOVE and WIZZARD in the 60’s and 70’s. During this time he was associated with eight top ten singles including “ANGEL FINGERS” and “SEE MY BABY JIVE” both at number one, and the perennial “I WISH IT COULD BE CHRISTMAS EVERY DAY”. THE MOVE and WIZZARD both toured America. Then, in 1976 when Wizzard disbanded, Rick started working with PETERS & LEE as tour manager. However, his entertainment background meant that he was able to help with sound, lighting and stage management for Lennie and Dianne. Eventually, he produced two albums and played guitar and pedal steel guitar in their band. Rick was also Production Manager for Jim Davidson for four years in the early eighties and continues to work on various projects with Jim to the present day. He started his own studio in 1982 and moved into sound system design. His first notable design was “BUDDY” followed by “JOLSON”, “SUMMER HOLIDAY” , “OH! WHAT A NIGHT”, “GREAT BALLS OF FIRE” and “DUSTY”. It was during this time that he was producing music tracks for Dianne and other artists and making an occasional guest appearance playing guitar on Dianne’s shows. Although they had often talked about gigging together, it was a comment from old friend Mike Sheridan that finally put the wheels in motion. They started their act formally at the beginning of 1999.
