What can I say about our final two guests of this wonderful evening. Dianne and Rick gave us all something to remember.
As always they held the audience spellbound with stories about their not too distant past. Add to this their respective hit songs
and the nostalgia really begins to flow. Their set was perfect for those of us who like to join in and sing along, including as it
did a number of Fifties and Sixties favourites. I’m sure you are all looking forward to their visit next year.

Take one member each from the Seventies chart topping groups Wizzard and Peters & Lee, and you’ll be surprised
how two widely differing musical styles can combine to produce a truly wonderful evenings entertainment. To prove the point, that’s
exactly what happened at Annie Restaurant in Torquay last night. Stars on the night were Dianne Lee and Rick Price. Dianne hit the
top spot in July 1973 with Welcome Home, when she was one half of the duo Peters & Lee. In fact, Peters & Lee scored a total
of five top forty hits between ‘73 and ‘76. Four secured top ten status, including Don’t Stay Away Too Long, which peaked at number
three. By contrast, Rick Price was originally a member of Sixties chart band The Move, and he later went on to be a founder member
with Roy Wood of the hugely successful Wizzard. Of Wizzard’s eight chart successes, two hit the number one spot and another four made
it into the top ten, including the most enduring Christmas hit of all time.... I Wish It Could Be Christmas Every Day. Nearly thirty
years on, Dianne and Rick have teamed up to tour with an act that includes many of their respective hit songs, plus material popularised
by the Everly Brothers, Connie Francis and Guy Mitchell etc. The accompanying patter is natural and funny. Referring back to each
others early careers in a gently mocking manner, they give a real insight into the strange world we call Show Biz.

The biggest surprise of the evening was duo Dianne Lee and Rick Price (Catchy name fellas). Dianne was formerly of Peters
& Lee and Rick was with The Move and Wizzard back in the Sixties and Seventies. To tell the truth, I didn’t know what to expect.
It seems such a strange mixture of styles. Then I read the program and discovered that the couple have been working together in one
way or another since 1976; and it shows. Dianne’s sparkling personality compliments Price’s dour sense of humour perfectly. The most
refreshing thing is that they don’t try to do sound-alike versions of their hits. They have produced new arrangements that pay tribute
to the originals but are presented in a modern setting. 9/10.
