President Records
In common with Roy Wood, Rick Price and his occasional musical collaborator Mike Sheridan cut their teeth in the mid-60s Brum Beat explosion, playing in various Midlands-based outfits which included the Nightriders, the Cimarrons, Sight and Sound, the Move and latterly Wizzard. It was the formation of the tiny independent label Gemini – a subsidiary of President Records – that cemented their songwriting partnership and heralded a clutch of recordings during a brief 2-year period. 1970 saw the release of the highly-regardedThis Is To Certify That album, followed by Rick’s solo outing Talking To The Flowers in ’71. Although their Gemini tenure may have been fleeting, Price/Sheridan’s evocative blend of Baroque ballads, occasionally hard-edged Rock and melodic Popsike remains an important chapter in the Brum scene’s story.

Drawing upon the entire Price/Sheridan Gemini catalogue and mastered from the original analogue tapes, this definitive 2-CD set explores a previously uncharted side of the late 60s Birmingham scene through two of its key protagonists. Disc 1 features the complete This Is To Certify That album complete with the Psych classics Sometimes I Wonder and Lamp Lighter Man, together with Mike Sheridan’s solo 45 Follow Me, Follow and the novelty single Top Ten Record. Disc 2 concentrates on Rick Price’s solo recordings, pairing the aforementioned Talking To The Flowers with 12 previously unreleased tracks from August 1971, juxtaposing self-penned compositions like the stunning I Can Get Found with material stretching from Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil to cult songwriter Jerry Jeff Walker. Eagerly anticipated by Psych devotees and Brum aficionados alike, this is required listening.

Compiled in conjunction with the artists, the fold-out poster inlay includes comprehensive liner notes by David Wells with recent interview extracts, rare memorabilia and photographs throughout.
